Are you hearing a grinding noise coming from the front of your car? It might be one or both of your CV joint boots have torn allowing dirt to grind on the joint and axles. You should regularly check your CV joint covers to make sure they haven’t cracked and it’s a good idea to replace the covers every 50K miles or so as it’s less expensive to replace the covers than having to replace the joint and / or axles if the boots crack and you don’t know it.
Below is a picture to show what a cracked CV joint cover can look like and a picture to show that there are two CV joints per side - one inner and one outter for a total of 4 joints.
