Here’s a close up of the Speed Pulser.

STEPS:
1. Disconnect the wire plug by lifting the lock on the plug and pulling the male end out.
2. Using an 8 mm socket and rachet and possibly extensions or an 8 mm wrench remove the two
bolts holding the speed sensor. (Becareful not to drop them!)
3. Install the new Speed Pulser with the bolts and connect the plug.

Note: There is a very small shaft that sticks out of the Speed Sensor once you have removed the Speed Pulser. Make sure you don’t lose this small shaft. Your new Speed Pulser may have come with a new replacement for this small shaft. If so then replace it with the new shaft.

4. Start up your car and take it for a test drive for a few minutes above 30 mph.
5. The S light and check engine lights should be off. If not then reset the back up fuse to clear the
error codes and then test drive it again.
Click here to find out how to reset the back up fuse.
6. If the problems and check lights haven’t gone away then you may have to replace the
Speed Sensor which is beneath the Speed Pulser and I haven’t written that technote yet so
you would need to consult your repair manual.

page which shows the Speed Sensor and Pulser unit removal and replacement
Remember you can try just replacing the speed pulser first as it is less expensive and easier to replace because you won’t have to remove the speed sensor just the pulser.
