Testing and Replacing the Igniter - Internal - 1990 Accord EX

It is not too hard to test & / or replace the igniter and should take less than 1 hour on average.

You will need the following:
1. A 12 volt test light
2. Small 8 or 10mm socket and phillips screw driver.

Disclaimer: This is not meant as a complete installation guide. Please refer to a good Honda repair manual such as “Helm”. Also, be aware that anytime you work on or under a car it can be very dangerous. Please take the proper safety precautions! Always use proper jack stands. Last, don’t blame me for any installation you do as I’m just an amateur like the rest of you out there, so install at your own risk ;o)
 

Note: A new OEM igniter cost is around $100 USD as of 11/10/2004. It is advised to use a new Honda igniter. You can purchase it directly from Honda or for less money get them from a Honda parts distributor such as found in the links section.
