Jumping the Service Plug

1. Take a paperclip (you might have to bend the paper clip to make it stay) or spade connector or
a Honda service connector from Honda (they cost around $12 so the paper clip is much cheaper)
and put it into the service plug to jump (short) the two leads in it.
2. Turn on your igniton but don’t start your car.

3. The Check Engine light should either light up steady if you have no problems or
will start flashing in a pattern to indicate the error code. (Or if you have transmission problems
then the S light will flash or both the Check Engine and S light will flash)
The lights work just like the ECU LED & A/T Control Unit flashes.
4. There may be about a 2 to 3 second pause between some flashes and this will indicate
that there are several errors. Just take your paper and pen and write down the flashes until they
   start repeating themselves.
5. Now you need to consult the Helm manual or someone to translate the flashes into error codes.
