Getting error codes using the ECU & / or A/T Control Unit & / or Service connector.

It is pretty easy to get the error codes and translate them into something you can use to diagnose the problem you are having with your Honda.

Note: Before you begin you should reset your ECU & / or A/T Control Unit
Then you should drive your car for several minutes above 30 mph (50 km/h).
Click here to see how to reset those and then return to this technote .

You will need the following:
1. A paper clip.
2. A piece of paper and pen or pencil.
3. A
“Helm”manual or you will have to get the error code listings click here to see a listing of the codes or submit your number of flashes to a honda group such as accord@yahoogroups.com and a member should be able to help you out.

Disclaimer: This is not meant as a complete installation guide. Please refer to a good Honda repair manual such as “Helm”Also, be aware that anytime you work on or under a car it can be very dangerous. Please take the proper safety precautions! Always use proper jack stands. Last, don’t blame me for any installation you do as I’m just an amateur like the rest of you out there, so install at your own risk ;o)

For 90-93 Accords there are two ways you can see the error codes flashing.
For Accords later than 93 you will have to jump the service connector which is
explained in the following pages..

For 90-93 Accords just look at the ECU or A/T Control “LED” lights
(both can be flashing simultaneously if you have engine and transmission errors)
Or
You could jump the service connector which will make the Service Engine light (& / or the S light) on your dash flash as well as the ECU or AT Control LED light.
I’ll describe both on the following pages
