Testing and Replacing the Coil - Internal - 1990 Accord EX

It is not too hard to replace the coil and should take less than 1 hour on average.

You will need the following:
1. An OHM Meter (Usually $20 USD or less for a simple OHM Meter)
2. Small 8 or 10mm socket and phillips screw driver
3. A 12 volt test light..

Disclaimer: This is not meant as a complete installation guide. Please refer to a good Honda repair manual such as “Helm”Also, be aware that anytime you work on or under a car it can be very dangerous. Please take the proper safety precautions! Always use proper jack stands. Last, don’t blame me for any installation you do as I’m just an amateur like the rest of you out there, so install at your own risk ;o)
 

Note: A new OEM coil cost is around $100 USD as of 11/10/2004. It is advised to use a new Honda coil. You can purchase it directly from Honda or for less money get them from a Honda parts distributor such as found in the links section.
